Student Loans
Ever wonder how you’re going to pay for college? Members United Credit Union wants to help you through the financial aid process.
Your first step is to completer the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This must be done each academic year in which you would like to receive federal aid. To complete your FAFSA go to www.fafsa.ed.gov*. FAFSAs are accepted and processed after January 1 st of the year a student is planning to attend school. For FAFSA Completion Tips click here*. After you complete the FAFSA you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR).
After that you will receive an award letter from the college you plan on attending. They may also include a Master Promissory Note (MPN). The award letter may include a preferred lender list. You have the right to choose your credit union as your lender. Please fill in Members United Credit Union lender code, 831078.
Loans are disbursed in two or more payments on dates established by the school. The funds are sent directly to the school.
Members United Credit Union can also help you consolidate your student loans when the time comes. Our lender code for Consolidation Loans is 861078.
If you have a student loan that is guaranteed by Great Lakes , you can check the status of your loan, disbursement dates, repayment amounts, due dates and other information about your loan. From there you go log in or register so you can view their IBIS (Internet Borrower Inquiry Service) link to view your loan information.
